Lantern Pike Summit from Sunday 19th July 2020.
Hoping to make the most of the dwindling summer months, for a Sunday morning hike, we picked the Lantern Pike Inn route from 10 Pub Walks – Peak District.

Although this route begins closer to home than most of the others, we were aware of it being a popular route, so to ensure a quiet walk, set off fairly early.
Post code SK22 2ES was close enough to easily locate the Sett Vallet Trail / Hayfield pay-and-display car park. £3 for 4 hours was ample for a leisurely pace, and no worrying about overstaying the meter.
The guide book instructed us to pass by “The Special Touch Cafe”. This is now named “Sett Valley Cafe” – we can’t imagine why they’d change that memorable name.

And the stats – 5 miles, 2 hours, with plenty of “photo breaks” on the steeper climbs
